A Neck Liposuction Can Give You a More Contoured, Youthful Look

neck lipo bel redThrough the normal aging process, the skin starts to lose elasticity and facial support structures start to loosen. In addition, fat can accumulate in certain areas to create a “turkey waddle”, double chins, and neck banding.

Neck liposuction and contouring is an excellent option for removing those unattractive and unwanted fat deposits. The results will give you a smoother, tighter, and more youthful look to the chin and neck areas.

What Happens During a Neck Liposuction Procedure?

The neck liposuction procedure is usually performed under IV sedation or “twilight sleep” anesthesia. This type of anesthesia provides a high level of patient comfort. In addition, it provides for a quicker recovery following the procedure. Additional injections of local anesthetic will be given to further numb the treatment area, as well as to decrease bleeding.

After the anesthesia takes effect, small incisions are made behind the ears and under the chin. A diluted local anesthetic solution called “tumescent fluid” is then injected. This special solution reduces bleeding and bruising. The tumescent fluid will loose and liquefy the target fat cells, which will then be removed via a gentle suction method. Once the excess fat deposits are removed, the skin will then conform to the new shape, providing an uplifted, more youthful look to the area.

After the Procedure

When the procedure is completed, the surgical area is bandaged. If necessary, a drain may be placed to prevent any fluid build up. These drains will be removed within just a day or two. Sutures will be removed in about 10 days, unless self-absorbing sutures were used.

Because this procedure is minimally invasive, patients will be able to leave the clinic within an hour of surgery.

During the healing period, the head should stay elevated to speed the healing process, as well as reduce any swelling. Possible bruising or swelling should resolve itself over the following two to four weeks. If there is any pain or discomfort following the procedure, it is usually controlled with mild pain medication.

Patients can usually return to their normal work or social activities after about 10 days. Vigorous exercise or activity should be avoided for about three to four weeks.

Neck Liposuction Costs

The cost for neck liposuction will depend on the procedures (or combination of procedures); however, the approximate cost for the procedure ranges between $5,000 and $7,000.
