After the Procedure
When the procedure is completed, the surgical area is bandaged. If necessary, a drain may be placed to prevent any fluid build up. These drains will be removed within just a day or two. Sutures will be removed in about 10 days, unless self-absorbing sutures were used.

During the healing period, the head should stay elevated to speed the healing process, as well as reduce any swelling. Possible bruising or swelling should resolve itself over the following two to four weeks. If there is any pain or discomfort following the procedure, it is usually controlled with mild pain medication.
Patients can usually return to their normal work or social activities after about 10 days. Vigorous exercise or activity should be avoided for about three to four weeks.
