There has been a rash of somewhat frightening news coming out about Botox being administered by unqualified individuals. Unfortunately, these incidents spotlight the need for patients to make sure they choose a fully qualified and experienced physician for any procedures of this type.

In Hong Kong, a woman was arrested for her role in a syndicate that allegedly performed Botox, hyaluronic acid, and hormone injections in a hotel room in the city of Hung Hom.
The arrest came after police were alerted to the woman and her associates when they received reports the group was offering five-day beauty packages to wealthy women on Mainland China. These procedures were being performed in makeshift operating rooms in the hotel.
Undercover reporters discovered that people claiming to be doctors and medical staff had carried out injections involving Botox, hyaluronic acid and hormone and living cells in the hotel, as well as plastic surgery.
Closer to home, a Houston woman was recently arrested for the third time for giving Botox injections without a medical license. The woman was arrested along with her two daughters for performing these procedures at a cosmetic clinic.
There are many occurrences that are coming to light about either illegal or unsafe Botox procedures. Many may remember those “Botox parties” that were popular, where people would gather at a home to receive Botox injections that were often performed by unqualified individuals.
