Smartlipo is the latest technological advance in the removal of fat. A very small cannula, or tube, approximately 1.0mm in diameter contains the laser fiber and is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth as the laser's energy is delivered directly to the fat cells, making them rupture and easy to drain away. In addition, as the laser energy interacts with the dermis it results in skin shrinkage or tightening. Due to the small size of the cannula, Smart Lipo is a minimally invasive procedure and can be performed under local anesthesia. The procedure causes less bleeding, swelling and bruising, resulting in a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction methods since the laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact. Due to the fact that general anesthesia is not used, the procedure is very safe with minimal side effects.

About the Doctor

Howard L. Feldman, a graduate of Princeton University and Cornell University Medical College, has been actively practicing cosmetic procedures since residency. Initially trained in plastic surgical procedures around the eyes, Dr. Feldman began to use lasers in his practice when they first became available approximately 15 years ago. At that time Dr. Feldman ran a cosmetic surgical center in Massachusetts, where he was founder of the Cosmetic Laser Institute of Massachusetts and a consultant to local industry for laser safety and protocols.

I am feeling like never before. Dr. Haramis is the most conscientious and skillful surgeon you will be able to find out there in the field, along with the assistants, beautiful luminous facility just made the experience a lot more pleasant then expected. Last week I went into Sleek for a free consultation for smart lipo. This was not my first smart lipo consulation, I went to one with a very well know plastic surgeon during the summer. The doctor and his staff were so snotty and made me feel unwanted. I swear the model staff sneered at me. I bolted out of there as fast as I could! Forget that!!! At Sleek, I spoke to Marion about the procedure and then met with Dr. Haramis. What a sweet heart! And so smart! I am so happy I did not go to that Park Avenue quack! Marion made me feel very valuable and did not rush or pressure me into the procedure. They made me feel so comfortable and at ease that I knew Sleek was the place to get this done. I will have the procedure done in a few weeks and I cant stop thinking about getting it. By the way, their prices are very competitive. I spoke to a guy named Dan today for about 45 minutes. He was very sweet and answered all my questions. I can not believe the difference in treatment between Sleek and one of New York Mags "Top Doctors". I wonder how much the quack paid for that!!! LOL!!! Pros: The very warm staff!

Who is a good candidate for the Smartlipo procedure?
If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you're a candidate for Smartlipo. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations for the procedure's results.

What body regions can be treated with Smartlipo?
Smartlipo is a great adjunct to traditional liposuction procedures, though it does not replace conventional liposuction. It is ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, breasts (gynecomastia), abdomen and areas of loose and flabby skin ( floppy skin).

How many treatments will I need?
For most patients, typically only one treatment is required. The session may last from 45 minutes to one hour for each area treated.

Do I have to do anything post-treatment?
After the treatment you will need to wear a compression garment for several days to several weeks, depending on the body area being treated. Rest is recommended after the procedure and activity may be resumed gradually. Refrain from hot tubs or strenuous exercise for 2 weeks.

Does Smartlipo treat cellulite?
The procedure will improve the body's shape and may improve cellulite to a certain degree.
When can I expect to see results?
Results can be seen as soon as a week with continued improvement over several months.

Does laser-assisted liposuction produce lasting results?
Yes! Adults do not create new fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells expand. The Smartlipo procedure permanently removes the fat cells. Should you gain weight, most fat will be deposited in areas where the procedure was not performed.
