Doctor Heil’s credentials attest to his commitment to excellence. After graduating from Shadyside Academy in Pittsburgh, he went to Saint Vincent College and received his Bachelor of Arts, Organic Chemistry (Summa Cum Laude) and a Bachelor of Science, Organismal Biology (Magna Cum Laude) while also pursuing minor passion in Applied Mathematics and Computer and Information Science. He received his Doctorate of Medicine (Cum Laude and Alpha Omega Alpha) from the University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine. He then completed a five year integrated residency training program in General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as a fellowship in Micro Surgery and Thrombosis Research from the University Medical Center of Pittsburgh (one of the countries top 5 plastic surgery training programs).

Doctor Heil completed the two year board certification process through the American Board of Plastic Surgery in September 2002. He holds membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), Robert H. Ivy Society of Plastic Surgeons, Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Pittsburgh Society of Plastic Surgeons. Doctor Heil is also a member of the volunteer teaching faculty for the University of Pittsburgh Plastic Surgery Residency.

Doctor Heil has authored or co-authored more than 50 papers, abstracts, and presentations on plastic surgery related topics and has presented at numerous national and regional plastic surgery meetings. He is certified as a Surgical Laser Specialist and trainer and serves as a national lecturer on the use of state of the art laser systems.

Doctor Heil brings to his patients is his training in an era when the latest technologies have been perfected and implemented in patient care. These include minimally invasive endoscopic surgery, laser surgery, and micro surgery. He also performs all other plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures.
